Default anyone have a pioneer DEH-P7700MP

curious about this stereo, as it has the Mosfet 50W x 4 which sounds similiar to the alpine 9833 series. at only $200, pretty attractive price. currently, have rear speakers in the rear panels and really thats all ill prob do, beyond a HU. anyone have it?

MOSFET 50 watts x 4 speaker power
22 watts x 4 continuous power
Detachable Face Security

If you are going to keep your stock speakers and your rears, and that's it, this should be a great unit for you. If you are planning on adding an amp the 2.2 volts bothers me. the MOSFET chip is pretty good, but i doubt you will ever see a true 50 watts; but 22 is more than ample for your stockies. so as long as this is your last upgrade, you should be fine. if the thought of adding an amp has ever crossed your mind, step up to four volt pre amp outs.

keep us posted!

agreed. four volt pre-outs are your friend. the pioneers are also hard to navigate through menu options compared to the alpines. i personally go get an alpine. most alpines have the three four volt pre-outs and you don't need a degree to operate. just my opinion though

i just went alpine, and i have had pioneers and still have one in my mini van. i find that the pioneer is easier for me to navigate, but that's just because i am accostomed to the UI. plus the organic el makes the menus nice and easy.

I would say it should be just fine for what you are wanting to do. Everyone here loves Alpines and while they are nice decks, they can be a bit spendy compared to the competition. Folks say Alpine lasts longer, that may be true - but you can buy a couple of other decks for about the price on one Alpine Actually, you might be able to buy 1 1/2 decks for the cost on one Alpine.

The new Pioneer blue display SHOULD be easy to read in the car (but I have not seen it myself out in the sun) and if you turn off the "entertainment" have a very large and easy to read MP3 tag display. Also the list feature lets you find a song on an MP3 laden disc pretty easily - while still listening to some other song.

I say pretty hard to beat for the money - for sure if you can get it for $200 with a "store receipt" so you will have a warranty.

I have a 7600 model that has worked flawlessly for the past 3+ years. I actually find UI easy to navigate.

I should have also added that the 7700 will also work with the hard wired (rather than IR) modifry DCI and the PAC SWI-PS hard wired steering wheel interface. The modifry IR DCI seems to work fine from what folks say, but having the plug in version is just one less thing to do.

I too have been looking at this player. I don't plan on adding a sub or an amp. Just maybe some rear speakers like the ones from lucid audio. I wonder how much better this head unit and rear speakers behind the seats would sound compared to the stock radio?

Oh yeah, I thought that I read that only the sony's can be hard wired vs. anything else for the stock radio controls need the IR DCI thing? So would you still need the DCI or does it just connect from stock? If so, what is the stock number on it?

Thanks,

Jon
