Default Anyone running these speakers?

About to upgrade my stock speakers on my AP1.
Thinking of buying these Alpine speakers http://www.bestbuy.com/site/alpine-6...?skuId=1807251
Will be replacing the stock radio with an Alpine CDE-143BT headunit as well. I'll be using speaker connector harnesses for the tweeters so I don't have to splice. Is there a separate wire for the 6.5" speaker? I'm new to installing speakers and want the install to go smooth. Thanks

Yes, there are paralleling wires between the crossover, mid-range/woofer, and tweeter. You'll need to fashion an adapter plate between door mount and 6-1/2" speakers.

These are nice speakers. Cleaner tone, than the OEM ones. Esp the tweeter.

Those Alpine SPS-610C speakers are not very efficient (sensitivity: 88 dB/1W/1m) and would probably be better used
with an external amplifier, especially in a noisy ragtop. FYI a speaker with a sensitivity of 88 requires twice as much power
as one with a sensitivity of 91.

I'm not sure if these come with a crossover, just tweeters and the two 6.5 speakers. How would they be wired? As for the adapter plate, I'm thinking of using the Modifry 6.5" speaker rings.

Those come with crossovers. I made speaker adapter rings from thin plywood.

Every time I see a thread like this I start thinking about upgrading my system. I have a new Alpine head unit installed, otherwise stock. I tend to listen to softer rock - like maybe Lucinda Williams stuff and such with sweet rich and fat guitar work, modern folk, progressive bluegrass, jazz, etc. Not heavy metal and not classical. I play music myself a bit and so think I have a decent ear and I like to be able to hear nice clear tone from each instrument.

I don't want to go hog wild here - but I am vaguely unhappy with the sound I am able to get out of this system right now. I use the Alpine iphone app to adjust the tones and that does work well but still - not an extremely rich experience. I realize that the S is inherently noisy and I wonder if throwing money at this system is every really going to make a significant improvement.

Any suggestions? Add small powered sub? Add upgraded speakers in door or stick with stock? Add small Alpine underdash amp? Nothing?

So far all I have done is to change the head unit and I did that mostly to get the ability to stream from my iphone.

If you are satisfied with what sources your current unit has available, maybe a powered subwoofer is all that you need. Good ones make a big difference.

It's also well worth adding sound deadening to the doors (as well as other areas if you wish) as it makes a good improvement for very little outlay.

Sound deadening the doors is great way to improve sound. I used Dynamat.

Thanks Im going to pick up the ones with Poly-Mica cones and they come with ring adapters. I also ordered Honda speaker harness adapters so I don't have to splice the factory harnesses. Should be an easy plug and play
