Just got my 3g and it will not work through my pioneer deh-690ub. The unit came with an ipod cable. I have been reading around and most people are saying they can play music through it but not charge the phone. I have the opposit problem. I can cahrge but not play music. This is starting ti piss me off. Any help would be great.

Thanks for the thought. Just tried it with no luck. I can't figure out why so many people have so many different outcomes with the same procedure.

Subscribed. Neither my first gen iPhone or my 3G work with my Sony head unit with built-in iPod cable. The physical connection works fine, but the phone flashes a message to the effect of "You have connected an accessory that is not compatible with iPhone."

My 3G connects and charges through both my universal docks. I haven't tried playing it through them yet and I haven't tried in my car.

It plays too, even though it brings up the message about not being made for the iPhone.
