Default Axxess ASWC, Mute button doesn't work

I purchased an Axxess ASWC and a Modifry Harness and got everything hooked up to a Sony DSX-S300 BTX‏ last night. This was the first time I did anything like this so I was extra careful. Everything works on the HU and on the dash - except the mute button. I double checked and everything looks correct. The button lights up but doesn't do anything.

I tried to manually map the mute but the DCI doesn't seem to recognize it. Does anyone had the same issue, or have it working?

It's pretty likely that the Axxess ASWC does not support the mute button -
it's implemented as a separate wire from the other dash controls, and
probably doesn't fit into the design of most "universal" DCIs.
Per this post the instructions for implementing the dash mute switch if
you are using a PAC SWI-X DCI (similar to an Axxess) are:
"to connect mute function with aftermarket radios with phone mute wire:
Using a 12v SPDT relay, connect pin 85 to Honda's pin 14. Connect pins 86 and 87
to ground. Connect pin 30 to the phone mute input wire of the new head unit.
Connect a 5100 ohm resistor across the interface's white and black wires."

Thanks I think I have an idea of what to do, but I'll check the wiring diagram when I go home. The "12v SPDT relay", I Googled it and it looks like a little box with pins? Are they all the same? (http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a...-RELAY//1.html)

Basically I want to power off the HU when I tap the mute button twice - this doesn't work for that does it?

IIRC the mute button supplies +12v when switched on (lit) and no voltage when off.
It would be easy to use the mute button as an on/off switch with a relay, assuming
the head unit reverts to its last state when the power is switched on (as most of
them do), but not easy to use it as both a mute button and a power off button.
Edit:
the Basic Car Audio Electronics site will give you lots of info about relays.

mute button doesn't work here either. using axxess aswc and kenwood kdc-x995 head unit. everything else works though, just not well. for example, pressing the channel button seeks the radio station, instead of jumping presets. i know this can be remapped manually, but it behaves strangely out of box with auto detect.

I have one to install this weekend and I have a sony head unit. The instructions state the mute button will not work with jvc head units only.
does anyone with the ASWC have the mute working on the S2000?
Also how did the install go? Looks like there are 6 wires to tap into. Was it a pain to install?

Well its official ...MUTE is not supported with the AXXESS ASWC. The install was easy though you better spend time reviewing the wire hookups. All else works fine. I bought the car 5 years ago and the mute did not work. My battery was accidentally drained one night and i needed to get the SN from the back of the stock HU to get the code # to get the HU working. While I had the HU out i noticed a blue wire pulled half way out. I plugged it all the way in, low and behold the mute worked. One month late i changed HU and now no more mute...OH well I went 5 years without it I can live without it again.

I've been living without the mute fine, but this is what their tech support sent me:

Step 4 is the mute wire. If it is wired up per the instructions, try tapping the MUTE 2 times.
4) Connect the Orange/Green wire of the ASWC to pin 14 of the vehicle
I've been too lazy to pull out the head unit, but I'm 99% sure I wired it up correctly.
