Default Best 1000 watt amp

Hi guys,
I am debating on what kind of amp i need to power my 12" titanium eclipse (750 rms 1400 peak) I have heard that the xtant x1001 is one of the few that really puts out true 1000 watt power. Do you guys know of the others? The xtant is a bit expensive 900+

JL Audio 1000/1?? That really ought to put out a true 1000W due to their RIPS circuitry.

Another excellent amp would be a phoenix gold tantrum 1200.1. Every one I have seen is putting out around 1450+watts @ 2-ohms. It is a loosly regulated class T amp, built in xovers, & has a subsonic filter. It should give you years of great sound. To take a look:http://www.phoenixgold.com/ta_1200/ta_specs_1200.html

I found with the JL 1000/1 amp is that you probably will need to upgrade your alternator as well as running a second battery with at least two 1 farad capacitors. This amp draws alot of current. I'm not familar with the other brands so I can't say if they would do the same.

Just keep in mind your after RMS power, and not PEEK.

Also, you need to be able to "feed" the amp power, so if your REALLY going with 1000watts RMS (waaayyy overkill IMHO), get yourself a 1/2 to 1 farad cap [$49-99 bucks online usually] to help smooth your powercurve.

Personally, I think you'de be better off with a lower-power, higher quality amp like Punch/Precision Power, etc... But I'm a purist :-)

JBL 1200.1 best bang for the buck on the market. You can get them off ebay for ~260. They play hard and never get hot. I'm going to be using one of them and a JBL 80.4 to power my system.

I'd recommend one of Rockford Fosgate's class D sub amps, like the 1000bd or 1500bd.

I powered my 88120Ti with a Rockford 800a4 (800W RMS) using 2 gauge cable from the stock battery and no capacitors. It worked just fine.

The sub can take a lot more power than it's rated for, buy all the amp you can afford. Check out the Soundstream Tarantula if you've got really deep pockets...
