I have the Passport. It's been very good to me, but if I were buying another today, I'd probably get the V1, as it seems to rate a little better.

I doubt you could go wrong with either of those 2.

It depends on when/how you are going to use it. I have a Passport 8500, but only drive my car when I am on roadtrips with others.

We all use talkabout radios so we know who is getting a signal. Since the 8500 expert mode tracks 8 sources and their strength, versus the most "lethal" signal and its strength (plus a counter) it works better for me.

I spent 1/2 what the Valentine cost and was able to use my brand of credit card where Valentine only takes a couple.

If I had to do it again, I wouldn't buy one in my situation. It is nice, but not really needed.

Thanks for the input guys. Money isn't REALLY an issue, I mean, I'd be willing to pay the extra $$ if it means i'm going to be better "protected". I still can't decide on the passport and the v1....

i think the v1 tends to be considered the best in most comparison studies. i have one and enjoy the way it targets the direction of the source.

I would look into the Passport SRX. You will have all of the functions of the 8500 plus laser shifting technology. It is a hard wired and concealed unit so you don't have to remember to put it up and noone can reach in and grab it while parked with the top down.. The display blends in nicely with the S-2000's LED's and sits on top of the steering column. I have the SR1 and the Shifter ZX3 - the SRX is new and combines both. Take a look at www.EscortInc.com and test results for all of the high end models at www.radartest.com . It's a bit pricey, but ( IMO )is the best one out there, especially for our car.

If you decide that this could be the right system but are interested (concerned) in how all of the long black laser diode housings will look, I can post a photo of my front and back. Have to retrive my digi cam from the folks, though.

tmorrow is correct. If money is not an issue, the SRX is the best option hands down. It has the added advantage of laser shifting, is nicely concealed, and it tests as sensitive as the portable units. I have been saved by the laser shifters at least 3 times in the last 60 days. Installation is not rocket science, see my short summary of the install at: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...?threadid=65757

Sumtoc2, where did you get your SRX? All the prices I have seen include installation. Is there a place to buy it without paying for the installation?
