Asking at hometheaterforum will put you in touch with guys who live and breath this the way we do cars. It is worth the time.
We do breathe cars don' we. It's kinda scary realizing that you think about cars as much as you think about sex.

just the receiver or speakers too?
Yes just a Denon Receiver. Good choice by NFRs2000, I was thinking the new 2807 which is just 10 watts less. I've got an 1803 with an Energy system. Been overdue for an upgrade! I bought from an authorized dealer in El Monte but I can't remember the name. Price was a lot less than anyone else.

I always thought the point of our cars was after all the driving fun you pick up a hottie and have sex... am I wrong?

Denon AVR 3806 is an Excellent Reciever. Speakers is difficult mostly because what sounds good to me may sound not to good to you. Personally if you can get them Look into getting some Polk RTI 8's. Excellent Highs and mids if you want to add some bass look into getting a Sub from either SVS,Outlaw audio or HSU they all make great subs. As far as rears go you can get a Polk CSI5 center and some RTI 4 rears. This may put you a bit over the 2000$ mark unfortunatly but it something I would recommend. That or walk into best buy and look at there Magnolia Hi-fi. They sell Definitive Technology Speakers there that sound Excellent as well.

Hmmm...where are you planning on getting the Klipsch Amit?

Those speakers look very nice, but unless you got a source....its gonna be WAY overbudget. But hey, definetely get a thumbs up from me on those. Ive always been a HUGE Klipsch fan. Sure there are better brands like Krell, etc, but dollar for dollar, Klipsch is great.

How many channels are you getting? Just 5.1? Or are you using all the 7.1 of the Denon?
The best performance for dollar in my opinion/experience (there are exceptions of course, but in general) is Paradigm. If you haven't auditioned them I highly suggest doing so

Not that Klipsch is bad, I have some Klipsch stuff, but that's my opinion.

Either way, it's hard to build a real nice HT setup for 2K. That receiver takes up $900 of the budget and $1,100 of speakers/sub just aren't going to do it justice.

I was just about to ask if Paradigm were still rated. I have Paradigm Atoms as my surrounds and love them.

That Denon receiver looks awesome and the price is right. I'll have to see what they cost this side of the globe.

Best bang for the buck speakers: http://www.fluance.com

Check out their reviews on: http://www.audioreview.com

I have the sx-HTB+ speaker set and a Klipsch sub with a the same Denon reciever someone previously recommended. This setup is unmatched for the price, and sounds awesome! Check out the reviews on these speakers, they sound better than speakers that cost 3x as much.
