I use the USA Spec in my Toyota. Works fine. You should find a fair amount of info if you use the Search feature here.

Personally I go with a new HU and upgrade the OEM speakers, this way, you get better sound and I-pod control, and it can be had for a lot less than you think.

You might try the USA Spec for a while. It only takes a few minutes to install on the S. If your sound system meets your needs, great. I was surprised how good it sounded through my stock stereo in my 2000 Tacoma. Albeit my audio needs are simple.

If it does not meet your needs, sell the Spec here or on ebay. You'll get nearly what you paid for it. Then go with above suggestion.

I've got the same usa spec one and it works just fine. Its a little bulky and its been to cold to do a full full install, so its just sitting the netting.

Over all

Get an aftermarket HU. It'll be worth it.

I just didn't think that they were cost effective versus a new HU.

I have the USA Spec as well. It works great. Can even change the tracks with the radio controls. One this is I have an iPhone 3gs and my unit does not charge it unless I upgrade to the new ipod cable. Depending on which usa spec unit you get, you might get one with the newer style cable or older cable. If your iPod touch is a 1st gen, I believe the older cable will charge it. But I'm thinking of upgrading my head unit so I might sell my usa spec.
