Best place for the tweeters? Who has compared?
Wow. Thanks to all.
I just want to clarify on the "kick panel" location. Is that the little piece of plastic just to the left of the footrest / clutch?
And... will Boston Pros allow me to use the "stealth" install? Will the tweeters reach me if they are there? Or, are the Focals that much better?
Thanks to all who have responded.

Focals are better, IMO. Stealth install is a priority for me given its a convertable, and should be fine for sound....
also tried top of dash location by the way...wasnt great either, although better than a-pillar believe it or not.

1) Will the sun (i live in LA) damage the speakers.
2) What speakers are divided three ways?
3) which speakers do you have?
4) Can i see a pic of the passenger side?
Thanks

For those worried about your leg blocking the tweeter, I found with the stealth position to be a little closer to my ear and in a spot that doesn't seem to be blocked by my leg....then again, the Bostons are so bright, they need to be blocked. I found it also helped to slightly angle them....this can also be done if you mount them over the Mid....I think Boston actually provides a mount for this application with some of their models...not sure about the Pros....probably need a custom bracket. I also tried a number of positions in the dash, door and A-pillar, ...basically it just sounded a bit wacked to me.
My suggestion....go with the BA Pros, do a stealth install, put plenty of power behind it, if you don't like it, then cut your panels or A-pillars....I'm telling you, this is EASY to do and if it does not work....well, go spend some more $$$$....alot more $$$$ if you want a marginal improvement in sound.... Don't get me wrong...Shaner....U Da Man......but for me....I'll save my dough for more speed!

SecretWeapon,
Look at the Porsche Boxster... it has speakers in the dash near the windshield. Don't forget, in an aftermarket install, you will have to remove the dash for a proper install.
I show my install just to show what's possible not for recommendations (even though it sounds great)... I don't recommend that people remove their dashboards for speaker installations. It's just that I always buy 3-way components for my front stage so I can mount the mids and tweeters in the dash (I have 3-way Boston Pro 6.5^3 in my Focus). I just don't like tweeters at foot/knee level that's all... HOWEVER, you can get some great imaging/clarity from well-placed kick panel installed components. You would think "how am I going to hear those mid/tweeters all the way down there by my feet"... but done well, they sound pretty great.
They are Dynaudio System 340 speakers.
