As far as I know, any Apline head unit from mid-2004 onwards will support their iPod adapter. When was the 7894 produced? They probably list compatible models on the Alpine site.

I've got the set-up and it works. I think the KCA 420i is AI related. It is slow and a little bit cluncky, but worth getting.

If you are able to make a few great playlists on your ipod then you'll be fine. Just don't expect to scroll through 40 gigs with the ease you enjoy with the ipod, which IMO is a pure genius interface.

I hardly ever listen to CDs anymore in my S. I'm getting a Nano for the wife and getting a similiar control piece for the Pioneer that's in the mini-van.

Check into the Dension Ice Link. I have heard that they make one for the stock Honda HU, as well as for various brands of afermarket HU's. Supposedly quicker than the Alpine unit. Also charges.

Search for Dension Ice Link. There was a review of it not too long ago on here.

Ai-Net to RCA to headphone jack setup will NOT charge the iPod, you will also not be able to control the iPod via the HU (I think).

actually I use the RCA to headphone jack into my iPod mini. Granted its not as sophisicated as the KCA unit setup, it works for me and very cheap to do.

Get an iPod car charger to charge your ipod while playing and you're good to go. Thats what I did.

A 12" can be done, but you are really limited in terms of box volume (unless you can do fiberglass, or are willing to pay $$ for a good custom box). Most people on here run either a single 10" or a pair of 8" subs.

As far as a "setup" you would really have to tell us your goal for the bass. I listen to a lot of alternative and rock music, so I am just looking for bass-line definition and a fuller overall sound. Some people who listen to techno or electronica want a big low end for sythetic bass. Others want punchy and load for hip-hop or drums.

I went with a cheap and easy setup on mine, as bass is not too high on my priority as far as sound goes. I got a single 10" Clarion SW10X sub from cardomain.com for $40. An Infinity amp from cardoman.com for $80. Got a flush-mount box off eBay for $150. Sounds great to me. Its all I really want (I may up the wattage a bit later).

I am pushing 283WRMS. What looking at amps, look at RMS wattage, same for subs. Ignore max....usually a useless number. The xmax on the sub is usually a good indicator of deep-note capability.

It really depends on what you are looking for. I would just say not to go much below 250RRMS. Anything lower, and i would think it would be a little hard to hear.
