Default Biamping with Component speakers + wiring advice

I have a Alpine 9887 head unit + Alpine PDX 4.150 amp.

I would like to biamp a set of component speakers. Does somebody have a diagram or instructions to biamping? I have a Alpine PDX 4.150 which is putting out 170 watts rms power from the factory test sheet. I need to find a set of speakers that closely matches this specification.

The Focal 165 K2P can handle about 100 rms power correct? I want to find a component speaker set that can handle near the 150 watts rms that the PDX amp puts out per channel.

I also would like some information on a great wiring kit. The PDX amp requires 4 gauge wire going to it and I was just wondering on what some of you used in this situation.

Thank you ahead of time

I wouldn't worry about matching the amp max RMS to the speaker max
RMS - you're never going to be sending all that power to your speakers
anyway, unless you like your ears to bleed. Having all that extra power
in the amp means that the amp won't clip on those occasional loud, low
notes that require a lot of power, so it will improve your sound. Choose
good quality speakers that you like the way they sound.
As for bi-amping, the wiring is easy - you send two channels to the two
woofers, and two channels to the two tweeters. In some cases this can be
done with the existing crossover if it has terminals for bi-amping, but in
most cases you'll need to eliminate the crossover, and then set up the
filters on the headunit properly which can be difficult. In addition, if you
don't set things up properly it is easy to blow your tweeters.
Personally I doubt bi-amping is worth the trouble in an s2000, but others
who've actually done it may disagree.

Good advice thank you very much

Now I need to figure out which Focals, Boston, or CDT speakers have the terminals for biamping...Setting up filters on the headunit maybe to much trouble. However, I think bi-amping will be worth the trouble.

So who is bi-amped around here?

I too am interested to hear from those that have bi-amped. I have been considering playing with this. I have an older Adcom 4 channel amp running only 2 channels to a set of MB-Quartz component speakers. Shame to have two channels going to waste!

I have my Diamonds bi-amped on the 4.150, my speakers were designed to be bi-amped though. You'll need x-overs with an input for each speaker to it, or possibly make your own x-over to accomplish it.

Bi-amping was well worth it for my set-up, stereo is loud and clear above 80+ mph top down.

What model # are your Diamond speakers...?

What other component speakers were made to be bi-amped?

Thank you for the quality inputs so far everybody!

Don't waste your time. Numbers are meaningless. Most of the time, you aren't even going to be using 1/2 that power. 75 REAL wrms is plenty to hear at speed with the top down.

I have the D971S. I'm not too sure of any others that offer bi-amping off the top of my head, but I'm sure they are available on the high-end of the spectrum.
I've ran Diamond Hex's in the past with no issues, so I figured I'd give the D9's a try and I am very pleased with the sound quality, mid bass response and how accurate they are. They might be considered over-kill in the S, but I don't regret the purchase, it is possible to get a proper system in the Honda, if you are willing.

Cool thanks for the review of the speaker, company websites only say they that they are always the best instead of giving a good opinion of their competition....

What other high end component speakers are bi-amped? Surely there must be much more, where should I be looking/comparing this high end equipment against another competitors?
