I saw a ricebox down in one of the shopping carparks in Sydney recently with a bar of blue auxillery LED lights that goes from left to right and right to left. I was kinda tempted to break the glass and get it but I thought that is kinda ugly and absolutely not right. I don't someone doing that to my car and therefore I shouldn't do that to others too.

But anyway, back to the topic. I have been searching for this for awhile now and have absolutely no clue to finding it. I believe it activates when the alarm is activated as well. Like normally, you will have a small red auxillery LED light but instead this is on a much more impressive and attentive scale. So let's hope someone come up with a dynamic link when I can pull out my credit card and get that outta my head once and for all.

Blue LEDs have come down in price significantly in the past few years (they were $10 a pop when I first saw them). The circuit is nothing more than an up/down counter...simple to design. I don't have a link on hand (I'm at work), but there are several companies that sell this stuff for license plates, turn signals, etc.

Yeah, I can easily get my hands on one LED clear with blue output bulb, it's still approximately AUD$10.00 a piece here and considered rare and definitely damn expensive for that but definitely not in a whole row. And trying to glue a whole row of them and running a circuit board or something is not very feasible.

However, I suppose that is how it's probably manufactured. But when it comes to commercial standards, it will be done much better and from the way I saw it displayed ... It had a sorta like black box around it which is very compact and definitely blends into the car perfectly. Should've just left my name card on the ricebox, hell!

$10 Australian?! Man, you can order direct from Digi-Key for $13US for 10 high-brightness blue LEDs. Now even the white emitters are coming down in price...$3/piece. Two words for ya...wire-wrap...the electronic experimenter's crutch. You gotta be careful with the blue ones, though...they're static sensitive.

Maybe I shouldn't admit this but I have one of those in my car. It's an oscillating blue LED. You can change the speed of it as well as the pattern it makes. I got mine at a window tinting shop were I got my 3M Scotchcal kit. You can also get them at Soundsaround or any car audio shop. Do you have Soundsaround where you live?

I'm sure when you install it in yours others will have the same thought! You may wish to consider that.

If you do decide that this bit of rice flavouring is a valuable addition then check out Jaycar or Dick Smiths for a Kinight Rider kit. Then swap out the red LED's for similar spec blue LED's and you are set.

You could also get one of those LED bars which spell out words as you drive by and install it on your antenna. You could program it to say "STEAL ME".

Okay AusS2000, ... I get your drift clearly, thanks for the advice and I have thought about it as well. Not very feasible to be doing it in Sydney especially. I have enough attention as yet. Anyway, I did try all those electronic stores like Dick Smith, JayCar, MyCar etc and no help has come appropriately. So ... I guess I will just have to wait for some proper manufacturing. Thanks for the advice, guys.
