Bluetooth Speakerphone
Just wanting to get some feedback before purchasing one. Mainly to those of you that have a BT speakerphone that you used with your phone. Parrot, Motorola, or any brand. With the top up or down, can you hear it somewhat clearly, and does the other person hear you fine.
I have a JVC AVX11. It's hard to answer to answer the phone when you are driving. I use a BT headset now, but it's a pain to put it on when someone call, and half the time, it's not charged. Since my head unit have this option, I figure this $100 accessory should work fine.
I know there are a couple of you that have the AVX33 where the BT option was built-in. Do you people you it at all
Here's the link to what I'm talking about.

Thanks,

I sometimes use the speakerphone function of my Garmin C550 GPS. Voice outgoing quality is so-so, even top-up at low speeds. It is mounted on a Modifry bracket, aimed right at me, and I still need to lean into it when I talk to be clear. The speakers are also weak. It does work. Just not stellar.
I bought my wife a Parrot BT add-on for her Jeep, the $90 portable model (not the permanent-install), and it sounds better. Still not great.
Our BT earpieces are much better but I agree, not as convenient.

I've heard good things about Blueant's BT speakerphone devices (even in convertibles) but don't have any first hand experience with them. I've actually just given up taking or receiving calls while driving except on road trips.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 660 and use it, but its hard to hear ..... Driving the S2000 at 60+ MPH isn't as quiet as driving an Avalon at 60+ MPH .... The BT works much better in the Avalon ......

Really - many reviews I have read about the alpine BT module stated it was very poor. Glad your experiences are otherwise. Do you have the 300BT module?
i havent tried it with teh top down at any speed higher than 40, but with a decent speaker setup, you can still hear fine. as far as people being able to hear you, its all about the mic placement.
i dont have mine permantly mounted anywhere yet, as i still have to connect teh rest of my system (big install), so i am not sure of the best place to put it yet.
good luck

I agree all about mic placemement and type of mic.
DBXFX - where have you found the mic to work best?
I've tried noise-cancelling mics on the visor, steering column... but nothing has worked. Went back to using my trusty wired headset ("The Boom")... can take a business call 70+ with the top down (windows up). The other end just notices "excitement" in my voice. ;-)

i can almost positivley tell you that no matter where you put this mic (other than next to your mouth,) top down at 70mph will not work out.
as far as city driving goes, i imagine it should do ok.
gimme 2 weeks, hopefulyl ill be able to start putting in my equipment by then, and ill try and test mic positions
