Thanks guys, i have also seen an item which claims would do the job, it is a 2.4GHz Wireless audio and video sender. it claims to have a "powerful 10mW signal that enables crystal clear reception of cable TV in a room away from the cable TV set top box."
i know that hard wired is always better but have you had any experience with these items?
or are they as good as an FM modulator on an iPod?

I used to have one of these. It was a Terk Leapfrog. It was total crap. We were transmitting across a room with the transmitter and receiver about 12 yards apart, with no obstructions, and the audio would get interferance regularly. The video quality was piss poor.
Saying "I know running cable is better" is an understatement.
coonected number 3 last night using RG6 from the basement to the bedroom using 100ft with factory ends...... that did it. guess I had a combination of old poor quality of coax, 1 too many splitters, a amp booster in the wrong spot (and I'm not using it) and an older TV.
Sorry to go on with this and also sorry for hijacking the thread. i just require a bit of guidance. below are 2 pics of the back of my Foxtel box, what would be the best way to run from here to my TV in the bedroom. any help would be great.
Its a standard 75 ohm F-type connector(fitting). I'm not sure if you have big electronics store down under... but if you do you can get one there. If not you can buy the cable (a quad shield in whatever brand you guys have down your way ), the connectors, the tools to crimp them and just make the cable yourself. Its very easy to do.
