Sarek, I am starting to realize my lights are not as bright as the lexus.
I dont know if its the fact that the lexus vehicles have two bulbs, where as we only have one, or if they have different bulbs. I think I am going to go to a lexus parts dept and order the bulbs to see if they make a difference.
I got the ones you ordered am pretty happy with them def an inprovment from what it was.
If your gonna try ordering t hose bulbs take pics and let us know how you like it

I will cherry.
I think its just that the lexus vehicles have two bulbs and we only have one.
Although it was a great improvement over stock imo too.
I've had some trouble with the superstar bulb last night. They started to "flicker" kinda like a fast strobe light. I don't know how long that's been happening, I just happen to walk passed the back while the lights were on... no wonder people were looking at me funny. They thought I thought that that was a cool looking license strobe light I installed. While I was giving them the "you like my S2000 huh?" look.
I've been riced.
I will put back the matrix bulb to see if it still there.
I'm also interested in knowing the bulb difference between the Lexus!
If you're replacing the *license plate* bulb, don't use a 9-led bulb. It is too big to fit with the light cover on, and without the cover it only illuminates the middle letters.

Sarek,
The IS and GS have two bulbs, compared to our one bulb, so that is why the effect is so pronounced on their vehicle. But getting the bulb I got will make it look just like the Lexus license plate lamps. The matrix is just not strong enough.
Get this one -
Super Star $6.99
Since we are on the subject of light bulbs, my lt brakelight seems to have blown, it works fine when just the lights are on, but when you hit the brakes, it does not light up.
Does anyone know if this bulb can be picked up at any autoparts store. If so what model is it?
I want to buy a bulb for the license plate, I know you said to buy the superstar, but I'm not sure how old this thread is, are the SMT Tower Bulbs brighter than the Superstar (in the link above)
Also, I just read another post above sayin that the Superstar bulb was flickering? do you think you just had a defective one or should I stay away from these in general?

Thanks
I think it was just a defective one I think pikkashoe used one without any problems. I re-installed the matrix bulb and no problems so far.

I bought the Superstar back in November. About a month ago it began flickering and eventually went out. When I checked the website again, I noticed that there is now a warning for the superstar that it is not suitable for constant-on applications. Well, needless to say I was a little disappointed and felt ripped off since this warning was not there back in Novermber.
I emailed the company and they were very polite and professional and offered me $3 off a new bulb. They recommended the "New and Improved" Superstar. The New Superstar has a heatsink to help reduce heat related failures from constant-on use.
I also bought a Supernova, but I like the color of the Superstar better. The Supernova seems maybe a tad brighter, but the Superstar has a cool slightly-bluish tint. I tried the Matrix, but it's not nearly as bright as the Supernova or the Superstar. I didn't try the SMT Tower, but my guess is it's not a whole lot brighter than all the others. It's kinda funny how they say every bulb on their site has the latest, greatest, super, best, highest, brightest, newest LEDs I wish they had some sort of quantitative comparison for them all.
