Default Capacitor ?

I have the following items ready to be installed. I went to Circuit city to buy an amp wiring kit and the salesman told me that i would need a capacitor and it would be better to get 5 farad Tsunami capasitor...He said 1.2 would be Ok but 5farad is better. do i need capacitor at all, if yes which one would be better for my system?

Pioneer deh-P880prs Headunit
Darknight1999`s Box with Alphasonik 800 series sub and Alphasonik PMZ1600DA Mono amp (600w)

Polk momo MMC6500 components(4 OHM, 125W Continuous, 250W peak)
Rockford Fosgate P450.2 ( 100 W x 2 @ 4 Ohms RMS )
CD-IB100 II Ipod adapter

Thanks,
Burak

I got a Monster digi-cap and it works great, I'm only pushing two 8" with a Fosgate 501s amp. All controlled by a Pioneer DEH-P930 HU and wired with monster cables.
I would go with a 1.0 cuz our oem battery aren't all that big but then I'm running a Optima yellow top.

ok factors - Metra makes good products , who makes tsunami - which is the cap your going to get... there's 3 brands they carry... 1 is a round one , which is 1.2 farads... which honestly puts out .5 farads... then the 2 farad which is about 1.5 farads , then the 5 farad... go with the 2 farad cap and you'll be sweet... it looks like a triangle.... also if they have the 4 gauge kit that has the cap in it just go with that. You should get a cap if you want to be serious with your system it helps.

You dont need any caps. If for some reason you really want one, a 1 farad is MORE than enough. However, you dont need it.

Caps are used for a particular purpose, and your system wont need it. I have the same sub with a yellow top, and I have no power starvation, nor dimming. A better battery will help you more than a cap.

Also here's another thing you have to think about , if you get a yellow top and you drive your car in the winter prolly not a good idea , noobs out there will say yellow top is the best , but the cold cranking amps are not really any more than a factory battery with 2 weeks left in it's life...

the FAQ covers my (and other's) opinion on the need for a cap.

imo, you haven't crossed the line where you need a cap.

get a good battery, but i'd stay away from the Optima Yellow Tops.
