Whats an estimate on your costs for this mod? What if you had someone else install it for you, since im assuming you did it yourself.?

 

If I had to estimate, I would say I am in it for somewhere around $1400+ in equipment. If you had to have someone set it up for you, I would not have any idea how much, but probably a few hundred dollars at least. The custom work for the screen bezel would be alot more I would assume.

I have tossed around the idea of making a few of these as plug and play units for sale. Don't know how much interest there would be though...

As a side note, I just got everything configured so that the computer will use my cellphone to connect to the internet. It can be used for surfing, but the real cool thing is that it can download weather/radar maps automaticly based on your possition as defined by GPS. That would have come in handy for me when I was traveling to the dragon this month. It also can find the nearest gas stations via GPS, then automaticly download the price per gallon at each of those stations and give you directions to the one you chose. I am working on the traffic.com integration now...

This is a crazy steal since the PC with all the periphials includes a good copy of XP AND already has all the interface software and GPS software installed and set up.
