CD changer compatible head unit
Does anyone know of any head units that would be compatible with the CD changer in a 01 car. I would like to replace the head unit but don't want to go to the expense of having to change the changer as well.
black&red,
The headunits delivered vary depending on the country that the car is delivered to.
I live in Australia and have a 2001 S2000 (built Apr 01) and have upgraded all the OEM equipment. It was very interesting to note that the OEM Honda headset is made by Kenwood, and the OEM 8 disc stacker (that resided in the secret compartment between the seats) was a Panasonic item.
I could not say for sure, but I would imagine that you could probably change the OEM headset to a Panasonic item and it should work with the stacker, but you may need to get the wiring loom/plug that goes from the stacker into the back of the headset modified.... READ - Could be a pain in the arse...
If the above is too difficult, a few options exist. The first (which is the way I went) is to replace both the headset and the stacker. Might be a little expensive, but in the end you get the desired result without the hassles. Another option is to get a headunit that supports MP3 and do away with the need for a stacker all together - you can fit around 8 times the amount of songs on a CD if you put them in MP3 format and play them on a compatible headset.
Hope this is of some help to you.

Thanks for the info Alister. Have you ever seen Jensen equipment in Australia, I quite like the mp3 head unit Lucid has on special, but I am not sure I would have support for the unit if it broke down or antyhing of the sort.
No, I can't say I have seen Jensen equipment. Based on the fact they seem relatively unheard of (to me at least
), I would say that post-purchase support could be hard to come by...
I would imagine that you would be better off going with a better known product that you can acquire locally (and get local support on in case you need it).
