CD/MP3 Player help/recommendation
I'm looking to replace the factory head unit and decided I want something that plays MP3's so I don't have to carry around a ton of CD's. My friend suggested that I should get a good CD/MP3 player with and "AUX in" which I could hook up to an external portable MP3 player (and he also told me that some of the new MP3 players have up to 20GB storage).
So with the decision that this is what I want to do, I've been looking for the right car stereo and the right portable MP3 player, but have no clue what is best between the models.
What I'd like is:
Stereo Features
- the AUX input on the face plate (to allow for quick disconnect)
- Preferably one that will allow the dash controls to still work.
MP3 Features
- A decent portable MP3 player with atleast 5GB storage.
- A fairly easy to use interface to allow easy scrolling and searching for songs.
If anyone here has done this or can make some recommendations on either, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Here's the thread on my install:

I went with a Sony CDX-MP70 headunit, Modifry/Lucid Dash Control Interface hard wired adapter, Apple iPod MP3 player (available for either Mac or Windows now).
I wanted to use a hardwired dash control solution with extra control features, so only looked at Sony headunits.
I think this setup meets all your requirements, except the AUX inputs are on the back; as you can see, I ran the wires to the 'golve box' so I would have a secure place to store the iPod while driving/parking. I used a long enough cable that I can use the iPod controls easily.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Ted
