If you're referring to the factory radio, it's held on by screws behind the radio door. You have to pull off the door before you can remove the radio.

Check out the Electronics threads - the FAQs have walkthroughs on how to do this - very useful.

it is very simple, you need to very gently (but using force) jank out the door it will snap off (grab from the little vents on top and the door it self) after thats off you'll see the 4 philips screws right in front take them out and pull the radio out done.

i did this and broke the bottom retaining clips off of the door. First thing is to pop off the center console, then pop off the door.

I was just looking at an interior shot that shows how to remove the radio and since you have an AP1 I don't think you have the center consle issue the AP2s have.

I have an AP2 and there was no need to remove the center console. That would have been a PITA.

Center console just pops off, very easy. Not worth the risk of breaking the clips. getting it out wasn't hard it was getting it back in that breaks the clips. Congratulations on not damaging yours though. Wish I had been so lucky!
