Default cda-9857

hey guys, i need to get a new audio system and i was not sure on which speakers to get. i dont really want to spend much more than $200 on my speakers.

what i had in mind were the infinity kappa perfect 6.1 and the alpine components.

the head unit that i will buy is the alpine 9857.

i will run the speakers w/o an amp for a while maybe indefinately. so, the question is, which speakers match the head unit better? the infinity requires/handles more power than the alpine components. also, i heard the infinity tweeters hit really high and might be too sharp.

what do you think? i am not an audiophile as some of you guys, but i just want a good sounding system. i listen mostly to hip-hop, techno/trance, and rock.

any input would be greatly appreciated

You'll almost certainly want an amp, regardless of what speakers you choose. And it's a lot better to add one at the get-go than to have to tear things apart and rewire later.

Go to a local audio store that stocks the higher end models and audtion them. What we prefer may not be what you prefer.

Either way, you will want to amp perfects and type-r's.

Run some reference or type-s if you want to use HU power IMO.

You cannot run the 6.1s on headunit power. So that answers your question, get the alpines.

will the type r's be fine of HU power though?

thanks for the replies. i will look into other lower powered speakers. i was looking at the type-s and now they seem like a better option.

dave- i will stop by the local tweeter to see what they got, thanks!
are the references better than the type-s?

Type R's will sound a bit better than the 6.1s (which will be almost inaudible with hu power) but still should be amped. If you arent planning on getting an amp (you can have a good amp for $150 bucks), then get lowered powered speakers. If you ARE planning on getting an amp, but cant afford it right now, wait until you can. Its stupid buying lower class speakers now, then getting an amp....wait until you can afford the lot.
