anyone know more about how this thing actually works??? it'd be cool if you could mod it or make something similar for the car while driving. lol, some fuzzy dice that light up and vibrate when a call comes in. j.k. seriously j.k.
These sorts of things have been on the market for a long time. Whenever you get a call on your cellphone, your phone transmits to let the system know it's ringing. It's that signal that the device picks up on. I bought a couple of similar things years ago. Mine are in the shape of little aiplanes and run off a button battery. They last for years. Mine also double as a car deoderizer that clips onto one of your air vent slats and air coming through the vent makes the little propeller turn. Unless you have it in a direct line of sight, you won't see it in daylight. I tried it because sometimes, I have my phone on low volume ring and in a convertible, I couldn't always hear it and I wouldn't always remember to put it on vibrate. I gave up on it as it didn't always attract my attention and it faulted a lot.
First one not lit. Second one as it's getting a call.
i see what you mean. maybe an electronic guru can shine some light on a possible mod to this design. if not maybe i'll purchase one and gut it and use some duct tape to make something work. i thought it would be interesting to see this sensor put in the coin holder and have a display of led's or a vibrating seat insert. just some ideas because i rarely hear or feel my phone.
new link for a diagram of how to wire your own. this one is kinda cheap though. the range is only a few centimeters instead of the approx. meter you get with the other sensors. maybe this will inspire someone, and i could get a prototype for becoming your muse
