Went through two of these things. Neither worked worth a damn. Ended up getting a refund.

The butane ones are great. Particularly if you're on the run or just doing a quick job.

Mind you, for most of my wire to wire soldering I use one of those cheap crack pipe lighters with the jet flame. Works a treat and even shrinks the wrap afterwards.

Junk. I used mine maybe 4 times. Batteries die quickly, and the tip is very fragile and not forgiving. You hit something while it's hot or cold and you have to buy a new tip. Don't waste your money.

Sounds like crap. I'll avoid it. Does it really cool off as quick as the commercials say? That'd be a fun lawsuit after I burn the hell out of my hand.....

It does cool off very quickly as advertised. My wife bought one for me last month as a gift. I found that you had to apply too much pressure to make good contact for it to work properly. Hooking up wires on a bench was fine, but working out in the car... nope. And it does spark a little as your making contact with the tip. Nothing unusual in that.

I'm keeping it so as not to hurt her feelings, but it won't see much (if any) use.
