Default Cold Weather effecting sound

Something weird happened on the way home today and I was wondering if it could be weather related. (as per my signature) I have a Pioneer head unit, a Sub, a JL amp, and focal speakers. Everything was installed less than a year ago, by me. I have never had any issues with the sound at all. When I started the car the morning the left speaker started poping, which has never happened before. The amp does not generate enough power to blow the speakers and the radio was not turned up too loud. I am in jersey and it is currently 12° F. None of the equipment has ever seen temperatures that low. I was wondering if the cold weather could cause any kind of issues that would make the sounds system operate improperly?

I have seen the surrounds on speakers rip or cause distortion when they are very cold and you turn em on loud right away. The rubber/foam gets stiff when its cold and the cone cant move like it wants.

These speakers are less than 2 years old do you think the foam could tear that quickly? If it was ripped then wouldn't the sounds still be messed up once the weather warms up?

It may not be ripped, it may just be stiff from being cold. Turn the radio on at a low volume for a while or let the car run w/the heat on before you head out just to get some heat in the surround.

I thought they might be related so I let the car heat up for like 15min with a quick drive on the highway and the heat on blast. No change. It was weird at first it sounded like the tweeter on the driver’s side was having additional sound coming at of it almost like a way peddle in sync with the voices coming through the speaker, then I noticed that it sounded like nothing was coming out of the mids and the tweeter was distorted and even if I turned up the volume nothing really happened. My first thought was I blew a speaker or the amp.

I wonder if I should take it to the shop and have them check it out, the speakers are still under warranty.
