Component Speaker install on a y2k s2k...
OK,
You guys have helped me out with a more than a few decisions on my Stereo upgrade.
I have all my components purchased or on the way. And nearly all my "i"s ant "t"s are dotted and crossed install wise, except this.
I will be switching the fronts to separates, and since i have a model year 2000, I have no place to mount my tweeters. Where are most of you doing this? Any suggestions. I've conceded that I'm gonna have to mess up some panels to do this, so I'm open to any/all ideas.
Thanks again list!!!!!

I mounted some eclipse tweeters in the groove in front of the door locks, almost at the very front of the door, with a surface mount kit. 2 screws, and a small hole drilled to run the wire through - pretty simple install. Almost impossible to see them unless you are looking, and the sound quality from that location is pretty good.
Some people are buying the 02 tweeter housings and cutting their older door panels to fit them in. Supposedly this works as well, but seems to involve more difficult cutting.

Aaric... So they point up (on the armrest part) or do they aimed laterally (on the doorpanel)..
Woodson AND Aaric... (OR ANYBODY) Any pics/ install guides??
I'm confident with my install skills, but when it comes to cutting... I get chicken skin.
There is an install guide on S2000.org, but they only have the pics up, no specifics, and they're mounted all weird on this strip of metal that sticks out from behind the cup that houses the door handle/lock.
If anybody has info on this i'd appreciate it as well. Here's the link...you'll hafta click in the pics from the root directory that this brings you to. Look for "tweets1.jpg - tweets6.jpg"

dont have any pics atm - I'll get around to posting some when I am 'done' with the system - probably be a few months.
The tweeters are aimed towards your ears when you sit in the vehicle - there's about a 30 degree angle on them towards the center of the car...angled up following the contour of the door in that area.
If I can't describe it all that well, I can probably grab a digital and e-mail ya some pictures...
The location i used is similar to:

but the esclipse tweeter I used is smaller, and matches the interior a bit better, and being smaller, its mounted a little bit further forward. And since they came with a surface mount kit, I didn't have to fabicate anything custom - but looks like the installer didnt have to cut/drill any door panels in the link you provided.
