Default Components?

I've been looking around for component systems and I got my eye on the QSD 216 set, but I friend of mine offered me the new JL ZR line, and now I've got doubts
What would you guys recommend? I'm not asking which one is better, I just want to know people experiences with both brands, and considering that I normally listen to Metal/hardcore I want a set that really get those heavy riffs sounding good.

Thanks guys

I would recommend Alpine Type R component. I have em and love em. Sounds great with just about any type of music. I would recomend goin ahead and dynamat the doors too while the door panels are off.

Alpine's will be to warm of a sound for him dude. Those JL's will sound good, kinda a warm speaker also but not as much as the Alpine's.

What kind of budget are you looking at?

I had my wallet already prepared for the $500 the QSD would have cost me so I could go up like a 100 more or so.

Take a listen to the Focal Polyglass 165V2.
They seem to be in your price range. I have the 165K2P's in my car
which are a little more $, but I put the V2's in a customers S2 last week with
the Dynamat door kit and a set of XTC baffles (he was using a Boston GT20 2x45 amplifier) and overall sound was real close to my K2P's.
Just a suggestion.

Just make sure you cut a few 1/4 slits into the bottom of those baffles. Those speakers are infinite baffle design so putting them in a small foam "enclosure" is not really a good idea. Your better off fully Dynamating the door.

HMM..
Maybe Ill give that a try sometime. I usually only use them with the K2P's which are supposed to be in an enclosure. Every speaker on our Focal display from Focal has enclosures behind the woofer. I realize they do this to get more mid-bass while on a display board. I wouldn't think Focal would construct a display that would be harmful to their speakers.
Do you sell Focal or have the dealer display?
Do you use the XTC's often?

I'm not a Focal dealer yet. Focal does recommend them being in sealed enclosures for the frequencies they have listed in their manuals. Which is very rare. Most car audio speakers are not designed that way. Course there's always that exception

I just don't want people running out to buy the baffles (the XTC ones and yes I've installed them and sell them) because most speakers are not designed to work in a sealed enclosure like that... course most speakers don't cost what Focals cost

i currently have some pioneer premiers and they arent that good. not enough highs.

i bought some diamond audio d6 compoinents and the woofer is so big that i need to cut some of the door to make it fit.
or i need a 1 inch spacer to make it fit
