components
well its time to change the speakers im not gonna put a sub in just some nice components. Can anyone recommend a sweet set of components that really thump as well as a amp to go with it???
after 6 months of Boston Pro60s, I would NOT recommend them. Not that they are bad per se, but for how much they cost, I shouldnt be able to find ANY faults with them.. and I did (too bright/harsh)
Infinity tends to be a warmer brand, which is something I like, but you may hate.
I like the Infinity Kappa's and perfects, Focal KP's, K2P's and their polyglass sounded OK too. As an added bonus, the power series Focals give you the option of 3 different tweeter settings from the crossover. If you feel the sound is too bright, you can hook up the tweeter to the -1.5db or -3db leads.
I've heard a lot of people say good stuff about the Alpine TypeR's. I didn't like them.
Bottom line, go to a store and listen to some yourself. No matter what all of us say, you're the one that has to listen to them. What we might like wont necessarily be what you like.

Your best bet is to go around town and listen to all the brands. Your listening tasts are different then mine and everyone elses.
On a side note I love the way my Infinity Kappa Perfects sound.

I should probably mention this...one of the reasons I went with the Boston Pro series is that the component set is 3 Ohms instead of the standard 4 Ohms. Any decent amp will put out more power at 3 Ohms, so you get a power/volume boost by running this set. For example, I have a PPI amp rated at 4x80, but it probably pushes 110w+ to the front speakers. At 70mph with the top down, it can completely block out wind noise.
