Default Compustar alarm antenna placement

I'm looking for suggestions on where to place the paging antenna for my Compustar alarm system. The installation guide suggests only to mount it horizontally near the top of the windshield on the drivers side of the car. I am not pleased with the aesthetics of that location. I was thinking that the may be room to mount in behind the plastic trim near the drivers visor? Not sure if it will fit there. And any impact on reception.

If you have a Compustar alarm system, please reply and let me know what set-up you have for the antenna and any pros / cons for that mounting location. (Pictures would be helpful too.)

Thanks,

Bill

I have it mounted high up on the windsheild behind the mirror. It is hard to see in these pics (which is kinda the point for this sort in install, right?) On the outside pic you can just see the white sticker on the back of the antenna housing. I would remove that sticker prior to install, if I were to do it again.

Thanks for the info! Looks like a good location!

I have already removed the sticker on the back of the antenna housing (good idea!) and will also paint the antenna element with a black non-conductive paint (except for the contact area) prior to installation.

What kind of range do you get with your pager?

Never really tested it. I have gotten paged inside the house while parked at my friend's place. (Notreallt that far, but it was through the walls.

Thanks for the info....

The install is nearly complete. Antenna works and looks good in that location.

I decided against enabling the "autostart" feature. The risk to benefit ratio did not look good for me.
