True, but who the hell needs the top of the line one??? Unless you're going on one mother of a road trip....

The bottom-end one offers 100+ hours of listening time for like $1,200. Pricey still, sure, but... Very cool, one must admit.

yep.. i'll likely be getting one, as soon as I get the employee price list. (my employer just got bought by SONIC|blue)

what i want, though is an in-dash mp3 player that has a pcmcia slot for an 802.11b card so i can just copy new files to the car from inside the house. THAT would be cool.

A buyout eh? Did you guys get any stock benefit?

I don't think I'd want my car to be too complicated, man...
I mean an MP3 player is nice but too many electronics can equal trouble if you ask me!

Well I guess what I mean is, as the technology advances the units will be more and more upgradeable, like on a PC. Which'll give the driver more to fiddle with and......
in a car that's bad news.

The thing you mentioned might not be a bad thing, no, but...
considering where I'm sure the MP3 market is headed, I guarantee options will abound to entice people.

So what do you do at your job?

Amazing and inspiring.

Has anyone seen one or read a review?

I havent actually seen any real reviews of it, but it is/was the Empeg player. SONIC|blue bought it and is now marketing it as the Rio Car. So any review you've seen of the Empeg player should be applicable to the Rio Car.

As for what I do? I'm an Applications Engineer at ReplayTV, meaning I'm one of a group that writes the software that the user sees.

Neat. Sounds a lot cooler than what I do all night long at work. Lots of Unix work, hacker stops, searches, data retrieval....
