Default CR radio cover

Replaced my stock cover for the CR one. Fairly good price. Darker color and pattern looks better, IMHO.

That cover looks pretty cool. Do you have any instructions or can point me to any instructions as to how you replaced the cover only? I just purchased an '05 AP2 and the previous owner replaced just the cover with the AP1 cause he liked the black only. I have no idea how you replace just the cover so any instructions or pictures would be great. Thanks!

There is a YT vid on the procedure.

I didn't need to remove the shift knob. Just pull the lever back into 4th. Use plastic tool to remove from dash. Or cover screwdriver with a good amount of tape. Take your time and remove each portion bit-by-bit. I removed the Passenger Airbag wire and button before fully removing the housing.

You need to tap out the pivot pins. I used a nail that I smooshed the tip to flatten it out. Watch out for spring that is on one pivot. When you go to re-install, one side of this spring must fit in appropriate cover slot. I used a little silcone lubricant on pivots to help the movement. Be sure that the tangs on the back of cover holder are straight. I put a little silicone lube on the metal tangs, to help the installation.

Fit the top of housing into dash first. Be sure to replace the Passenger Airbag button back. Just push the bottom cover and holder back into place.

The CR cover fits perfectly.

I did exactly the same thing a couple of months ago. It was pretty easy; just needed to take your time.

I looked into using the CR CF look for the console as well but the deal breaker was the cost of the entire armrest/console storage box assembly. Too much. Easy to find the CF look for the top switch, flasher, and defrost cover plate. You just needed to Dremel out the hole for the top switch.

I did add the CR aluminum shift ball; it has yellow markings matching the color of my car.

I'm gonna check one of those globe CR shift knobs. Try to paint numbers red, to match car's color.

Its pretty easy minus the spring. I stared at it for a good 30 minutes trying to figure out how I got it out and how to put it back in and have the door pop open lol.

So what do you think of the feel of the CR Shift knob versus the stock shift knob? I've been thinking of changing it out.

No need to paint the numbers red since you can just buy the CR Shift knob with red numbers from Honda. Check out this post.

1. CR (Yellow Lettering): 54102-S2A-C00
2. Ultimate Edition (Identical to CR but with Red Lettering): 54102-S2A-E00
3. CTR: 54102-SMT-E01

I know you can order the second one from a Honda Dealer as the part number is available. Just FYI.

Thanks, for the tip on red lettered OEM shift knobs.

What's the story in the OEM titanium ones? Ever try one?
