Default crappy sound quality from a CD

So I bought this new CD, and the sound quality sucks on it.

Whenever some of the people are rapping, it sounds all distorted. Is there anything I can do about this? The alpine h/u doesn't have very many sound quality options from what I can tell, I've lowered the treble and that doesn't help.

Never had this problem with another CD and it's not all the tracks on the CD.

Sadly, most people would never realize the difference anyway. Lets face it, Ipods aren't exactly the greatest sound processors out there - and most people don't want to spend the money on really being able to hear the music. They just want it loud.

here's another story about the phenomenon
http://www.wired.com/listening_post/...es-metallicas/
the pathetic thing is that they're engineering CDs intentionally to have
the dynamic range of a 128kb MP3, I guess so it will sound equally bad
ripped or unripped..

wow...dumb...i tried another CD after listening to this one for awhile, and it's doing the same thing, like when someone yells "whats up" the 's' sound starts to break up...hopefully that just means that my speakers need to be replaced...

so i went to an audio shop this weekend, and they said they'd mold me some a-pillar tweeter pods for ~$200, is that a better route to go or should i go with 02-03 door panels?

Personally, I'd be inclined to go with A pillar custom pods.

yea, i'm sure anything would be an improvement over the way it is set up now, but i'll probably end up going that route (a-pillar pods) once i decide which components i want to go with...

now i have to decide which components....everyone talks up those diamonds?

I had the diamonds. Still have the Diamond woofers in my doors...

But, I'll be honest...there are much better speakers to be had for the same price (even the Ebay price) if you're willing to run an active setup.

what would you recommend for the active x-over, tweeters and door woofers?
