Default Custom AP1 taillights I made

I posted this in the SoCal forum, but thought i'd post it over here in the electronics.

I was never a fan of the turn signal and reverse light on how it was split in half, so i decided i'd just make my own taillights the way i liked it.

The LEDs used are Cree P4 which i bought from digikey and i just got some PCB from radioshack and cut them into circles.

The running lights and brake lights.

Turn Signals and reverside. (Turn signal is the outside ring, and reverse is the inside circle)

Both boards inside the taillights

Reverse

Turn signal, reverse, and brake lights on

Although these picture might make the lights look brighter or dimmer than others, in person, they look really good. These pictures dont do it justice.

Here are some more pictures with a comparison.

Heres a quick test video of the taillights.
LED Tails

THANKS!

looks like you put a lot of work in on developing these. How much would these cost to replicate? Are you going/willing to make them for others?

I'm thinking i might just write a DIY so others can do it themselves and save some money. All in all it cost about $100 or so. Majority of the cost were the LEDs, which were about 70-80 bucks.

Very nice! I just bought some ap2 tails, and might experiment with my old tails. Where did you get your LED's from? Also, are they 12 volt LED's, or did you have to use resistors with them?

I like them too. You should consider making them and selling them. I'd pay $150 + core for them.

I got the LEDs from digikey.

I should have put a voltage regulator on it, but i tested the lights and they were all about 13.6 volts with the car on, so i just figured i'd just wire them for 14 volts just in case (even though they probably wont see 14 volts)
