Cutting the dash
I was considering removing the passenger side air bag at the same time i cut the dash to put the processors in. I there anything to gain by doing this.
I would like to leave the processors together as one unit instead of removing the front (display and control functions) but I would need a full 8.5 to 9inches of depth. From the pics I have seen it would appear that there is some metal framing behind the dash that might prevent me from going the full 8.5 to 9 inches of depth i would need if keep the processors in pone piece.
currently using an alpine head unit and a boston acoustic amplifier both of which use/put out unbalanced RCA. THe processors use on the input/outputs balanced XLR's. Thats why I am using the converters unless there is a way just to connect the RCA(cut end off and splice with the appropriate pin) to the XLR's. I was worried about impedance problems between the two.

Seems like an awful lot of guessing with some seemingly expensive stuff to achieve the same thing you can with some already put together stuff. Just get a higher grade deck with a good 24 bit DAC, mate it up to a good eq/processor and be done with it.
But I have read up on what you are wanting to do. Each situation is different.

On other note...I too am going to be cutting the dash quite extensively and in my case the a/c/heating ducts will have to be relocated. Off the top of my head based on the pic provided from the monitor install, I will be removing an entire section of the ducting and prolly remaking a new section out of ABS plastic and just reshape/mold it to my desire; i.e. product placement. That section of ducting right there in the middle puts a huge damper on my plans...damnit.
Currently I am an Asst. S&I Mgr. of a CC roadshop, before then I was an installer for three years. Do custom stuff on the side when I find time, and now I am currently planning the install in my newly acquired S. CC work doesnt really fit in with much custom work, although I have done a few customer cars with some minor stuff...kickpanels, glassed amp racks, etc., nothing to extraordinary.
Attended Installers Institute advanced fabrication course, provided by CC
#1 installer in entire company 2002, which got me the trip to Florida to attend the class, tour Metra facilities, etc., along with the other top .5% installers in the company.
I guess thats basically it on the install side. Had a few systems in the past, mixed with some performance.
Now Im trying to further my career by showcasing a great install in the S. Currently awaiting all the products to begin.

Ok I was right... your book smart

Dont worry...I wont tell anyone that the reason you're going to rip out your old install, is because of the pictures you'll see of my install when I finish it.
oops...no one else that is.
Rip out my install!!
Why would I do that??? Get off your high horse moron... I'm very happy with my install.Ya know everytime you post you make yourself sound more and more like a know it all troll...
Just post up some of your past installs,... this shouldn't be a problem since you like to spout off your mouth anyway.
Either way good luck with your install... troll..

Go cry some more about it...better yet, go needlessly sand some more fiberglass.
