does anyone have the measurment to cut for the usdm dash? my jdm bezel is currently being shipped to me

 

curious how easy it is to do something like this I bought the car and it has a circle stain on the dash from a gps stand I think. I have tried goo gone and other products but nothing will get it off. I was going to replace the dash but its actually in a good spot for some gauges so I thought I may just do that. How hard would it be to make a pod like what you did for the screen?

 

Making an eyesore on the dash is easy ~ making it flow with the rest of the car isn't as simple as most make it out to be. Do a search for Ipad installs, up until the Mini came out, the regular ones were just too large for the s2000.

We've done quite a few double din's in s2000's and it was always tricky due to the depth of the radios were nearly 7" and would interfere with the vents. Come today's technology where you can use a single din deck in the OEM location and a tablet device that takes up no depth was a dream come true. In the past we had to cut the dash or drill holes which basically made this a one way mod.

Our goal: Create a pod that looks factory and allows the iPad to be removed if needed plus route all wiring so it's hidden into the center vents!


We recently had a NSX in here that wanted the iPad mini installed so we took some notes and this is the end result. It's going into the paint shop right now but when it gets back should be pretty sweet. We plan to tackle the s2000 project next. Labor / time wise it won't be cheap but custom work never is.

even if we buy the dash kit from euroboutique i dont even know where to start cutting =[. search for days to find a template. im assuming its just eyeballing at guess?

 

Sorry if we weren't clear ~ there is NO such thing as a template for double DIN cutting. We build each faceplate after the hole is cut which requires some careful measurements to clear the vent ducts properly. In other words for double din installation, the entire job has to be done in-house since the bezel and hole are built to spec.

As for our iPad mini pod we plan on building, this is a complete assembly that will literally "hang" from the dash and require no cutting. We plan to build a metal u-shaped bracket that will have attachment points hidden behind the center vents and flow upwards on top of the dash so the entire pod can be installed and later removed if needed. This will be very labor intensive but we have big plans for this idea. Anyone can cut a big hole or drill holes everywhere to mount a pod but to do it without molesting the dash is a totally different story. We actually got this idea from an NSX bracket another vendor made for the NAV POD. See below if you can imagine this flipped 180 degrees for the s2000:

What are you guys connecting to the device to keep it powered? Further, do any of the available tablets fit the OEM bezel?
