Default dashcams and tickets

So I finally got around to buying a dashcam after seeing all these horror vids. I realized our windshields do not have much real estate, and my dashcam hangs below the rear view mirror. Has anyone received a ticket for obstruction of view for something like this? I wouldn't think cops hassle, but I had a friend in San Diego CA get a ticket for a hula girl on her dash because it "obstructed the view"

Would really depend on the state...most do have some statutes on that. Have you thought about mounting it on the glove box like others do?

It can and does vary by state as mentioned above. I have mine mounted along the upper edge of the windshield to the right of my RD which is mounted to the right of the RVM. In our other vehicles I was able to mount behind the RVM.
