Do you still have use of the audio controls on the dash to the left of the steering wheel?

I just installed the Alpine 9885 with the modifry DCI (the wiring harness was bad but the replacement should arrive in the mail today).

The new HU makes a HUGE difference and it sounds like I have different speakers in my car!

I was surprised at how easy it was to replace the HU -- as long as you get the wiring harness since splicing all those wires would be a major PITA.

The 9885's biolite display, IMO, is well worth the premium over the 9883. I got mine off ebay for 199.99.

Alpine offers an interface for the honda controls. no need to use the modifry one with the eye.

I've been reading through everything that I can find about this (Search sucks on this site) and I was getting ready to settle on the alpine deck with the modifry DCI, can you explain what you mean here and why so many people buy it if you don't need it and possibly save me $90?

I like to know too. I 've got the 9883 and I'm waiting for an Ipod before installing. Everything I read seems to suggest you have to have the Modifry adaptor which i already have.

Edit- You might be able to sort through the wireing and do multiple splicing but I'd really really rather not do that. The price of the adaptor seems reasonable and the result is much more elegant.

The modifry DCI and adaptor does more than just allow you to use the controls ... it offers more functions with the flick of one of the dip switches....

I higly recommend it....

This is concerning the dip switches for Alpine. The way I read the instructions, all switches except 1,2 should be ON. Switches 1,2 are connected to nothing and their position doesn't matter. So if you have an Alpine all switches can be set to ON. Is this right?
