Disable AP2 traction control?
Hey, new to the forum and to S2K's. I have a 99 SS Camaro, and am probably picking up a 06 tomorrow for an enjoyable daily. A couple of things I was wondering, and i searched, but I'm not very familiar with how this site' searching works, is on the AP2, can you switch the traction control to where it is off until you press the button. Pretty much reverse it, I know this is what many F body people do. Or disable it without throwing codes every which way? Also, I have been reading about the CDV, and I think i will do this, but I will wait until clutch time to address the pressure plate issue I read about.. Can anyone shed some light on any of this for me?
Reversing traction control would be making it give you less traction.
I think what you are trying to ask if you can turn it off or disable it. Yes, you can. It's as simple as pressing/holding the button for a few seconds. This information will be in the owner's manual.
About the cdv: ok.

you want it so that VSA is OFF, until you press the button to turn it on.
No one has done this, and in all honestly probably not a good idea. The S2000 has been known through its lifetime to be a car with a tendacy for snap oversteer.
The newer AP2s are much more stable and less likely for this, but the fact remains this car is much different than your Camaro. Wheel spin in the camaro is fun because of the tq and controlable due to the length of the wheelbase.
However the S2000 has a shorter wheel base, and its not going to loose traction at low rpm but instead at high rpm during hard cornering.
Now your probably thinking SWEET! Drifting!
NO. Sideways is bad, especially in a shortwheel base car like the S2000, while a little bit of slip angle is good, the s2000 will do a 180 like no bodies business and especially when you least expect it. Such as in the rain, or if your rear tires get lower on tread than you realise. Once the rear is out there is not stopping it, well ok, maybe a tree will stop you.
Leave VSA on, until you are in a safe and controlled envioment and are looking for fun intentionally.

Ended up with the 05 and about 6hrs of seat time. I see what GMK is saying. Only once did I get the back out, while I wasn't giving it hell, It was still a test drive. Nah, I've got other cars if i want to go waste the back tires on. Your answer pretty much answered everything I needed to know. Ended up with an 05 red/black interior 24k miles. bone stock. It's a daily. This is really my only car now that isn't a toy. We just had like 6 inches of snow for Christmas, which hasn't happened in YEARS. Keep in mind, I'm in Alabama, but everywhere I went in the Camaro, I was drifting just because of the road conditions/good front tires/shot rear tires. First day was fun. Second day was reasonable. Third day and next week and snow again as soon as the first snow melted was miserable. The Camaro's power really comes in about 3500, so it's not sideways just every time you try to pull out of a parking lot, you have to want it to get it. Thanks big ass cam. I like the power delivery like that though. To each their own. I'll post up something else after I have a couple thousand miles under my belt in the S2K, but the car is very fun, It was a nice day, still haven't put the top up. Very very nice car. I think me and the S2000 will get along well

definitely never let your s2000's rear tires get to the wear bars. There is a saying about s2000s,
"until you learn to drive it, its trying to kill you"
This car will teach you to drive smoothly. : )
