Default DIY sub box

I have just finished building my sub box that will go into the "tool" area in the trunk.

I have glued and screwed all the parts of the boxes togethere and i was wondering if i should put any type of product in there to insulate (besides the silicone) and also if i should pain the interior.

I used MDF, from what i've been told, if i want to increase the "size" of the box, i could put isolation inside which will allow me to have a box about 40% larger than it actually is...

Is this really true? What material do i have to use to do this? I currently have about .9 cu and if i could get 1.1 or something like that by adding that stuff it would be amazing.

Also, where do i get the carpet stuff that matches the trunk.??

I will post pictures as soon as i'm done with the installation, and will probably write up something if people want,

Dave

there is stuff called polyfill, availible at any local sound shop. If that fails, go to you local matress shop and buy some pillow stuffing, as they're essentially the same stuff. I've always wondered if that stuff is flamable though...

Carpet stuff? You'll never find the exact same color/texure as teh oem carpet, but some outdoor 'turf carpeting' will work fine, looks pretty close. I got a large sheet of it at my local Home Depot.

The thing with polyfill is that if you add to little it does more or less nothing, you add to much you'll reduce the size of the box internally. You need to test it as you add more or remove some. Its an excellent way to tune your sealed box.

As for carpet... that's totally up to you. I get mine from Select Products but you could use the turf carpeting from HD. I haven't seen it myself so I can't say but I know some people her have used it.

You can also spray the inside of the box with spray-on truck bedliner(sound deadener) Then once its dry add the polyfill on top of that.
