I have a JL Audio Stealthbox which contains 1 10in sub. I'm very happy with it. Top up / Top down. A big thing to factor in is POWER. A 10in sub along with a good amp is more then ample.

I doubt most people have bought both. I have a 12" one (sub, that is). I only listen to rock-and-roll so it may be a bit much. However, I really like it. It fills out the sound perfectly--top up or down. Although, I do prefer the sound when the top is down; there is too much bass when the top is up. The real problem is that tuning the sound depends on the top being up or down. In TX I go top down all the time so I tuned my that way.

Cheers

For the most part Mikey's right. Bigger is usually better when it comes to sub's, but like I said in my post earlier that nice 12in sub is wasting away without a quality (and reasonably powerful) amp.

Also..If your replacing your head unit, make sure it has a seperate sub control. Most unit's have them theese day's but make sure before you buy. That way you can adjust your "bump" so it won't bounce you out of the car when your top is up

I had both single 10" and 12" JL W3 sub in a custom box. The 12" bass hit way harder than the 10". The 12" sounds better top down. Top up the 12" bass is a little too booming. The 10" has clean bass top up but can't hear the bass top down. Like Yelo said, get a head unit with seperate sub control. Get the 12" sub and dynomate the whole trunk so you don't get that ghetto bass!!

forget dynomat(waste of money and weight)... all you need to do is vent the deck under the top(when it's folded down) so the base travels forward.. even with a JL12W6V2 int he back i haev minimum trunk rattle..

and go with 12".. I had the JL stealth box.. still hae it for sale.. it just wasn't enought for me with top down..

Its not the size, its how you use it.

I love messin with ya mike.....

Anyway.....the above remark is somewhat true....

A properly set up 10" will POUND in an s2k.

Dont listen to mike, he is preoccupied with the size of his samples.
