Default Does anyone have Kenwood KFC-XR501's in the rear?

Hey guys, does anyone have Kenwood KFC-XR501 5.25" speakers in the rear? If so, how do they sound? I was thinking of buying them, but I'm not sure. I would like to buy a rear speaker that will drop right in without modifying anything(except for cutting a hole in the panel). I'm looking for a speaker that I won't have to amplify with an additional amplifier, I will use my panasonic deck that is 50W per channel for them. How do you think this will sound? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks -Michael.

I have Kenwood 5.25" speakers in the rear panels, behind the seats. Also, I have Kenwood 7" (oversized) speakers in the doors as fronts, and Aura Bass Shakers dropped in the seat-back pockets, powered by a Clarion 2-channel amp. The head unit is OEM. So my system is going to be a little different from yours since you have a Panasonic head unit with more power, however, if I were in your position I'd spring for the rears. You're not really going to get more bass but you'll get more sound overall. I might also suggest new door speakers. Lucid Automotive sells speakers with the correct harnesses/adaptors/wires, etc. for the S2000. And they carry Kenwood 5.25" rears already installed in panels; you just pop your panels out and replace.

Let's put it this way, I see you also own a BMW. I had a 3 series myself. BMW's Harmon Kardon system is pathetic as you know, and it's difficult/expensive to work on. The S2000's system is a better starting point... everything you add will make an improvement and it doesn't take much money to get a decent sound.

Sparta, thanks for the reply. The stereo in the BMW is very weak, and the harmon kardon as you have mentioned is even worse. Thats why I want to get some descent sound in my S2K. So are you happy with the sound of the Kenwoods in the rear or would you suggest for me to get something else? Thanks -Michael.
