Does anyone have this unit?
Hello everyone,
I am wondering if anyone has this unit, Alpine IDA X100, in his or her car.
How do you like it?
Does this unit fit our cars well?
Is $250 worth to buy?
Regards,
Don

I have the first generation of this deck, the IDA-X001. Many people here have these decks, and they should fit w/o issue. I'd say that these decks are somewhat polarizing in design and acceptance. If you have, or will buy, an ipod and are willing to use it as your portable music database, then these decks provide the best interface for accessing your music. You will likely want to run the cable to your glovebox/secret compartment for ipod placement.
If you still want to play CDs, you'll have to mount a changer, as the deck has no internal player. The preamps are relatively low voltage (2v) for head units these days, and at this price, but I don't think it's a major issue. Another plus for Alpine decks is that Modifry, in addition to his Dash Control Interface, also makes a plug n play harness. Installation is literally as simple as snapping a few things together. No cutting/splicing required.
Hope this helps,
Phil
