I am looking at new front speakers and I was impressed by some Eclipse front components. I don't see many people here running them, any reason why?

Anyone know if they will fit without modification?

I believe they have a slight fitment issue, and Ive never heard them in person.

Crutchfield is having a sale on the Alpine SPX speakers....and John says they are great. Check em out.

Well, I decided not to rush to judgement. I was going to race to buy and install something tonight so I would have tunes for the ride to Freshwater tomorrow.

CC had two component sets, and one was not hooked up correctly so I could not hear it.

Tweeter, had two sets. One was $400, and the other was $200.

A specialty audio shop here only had the Eclipse speakers, and the last audio shop I went to was closed.

I am going to take a step back and really look for good speakers. It will suck being in the car for 2+hrs with no tunes, but better that then wasting a lot of money on speakers that might or might not fit. They did sound VERY good though.

Thanks guys.

I had Eclipse Pointsource coax's running my rearfill in my Subaru. These are the ones that have the competition crossovers. Really nice and great sounding. I personally like Diamond Audio for bang for the buck, but the Eclipse I have are really nice.

i have long since commented many many times that i really liked the Eclipse components.

i had the opportunity to get them for about $300 or so, but when the Focal 165K2's were attainable locally for $350 (via a negotiated deal), i had to jump on them as i preferred them over the Eclipse. (but at their normal pricing, they would definitely be considered in a different tier from the Eclipse.)

imo -- the Eclipse components are one of the warmest smoothest sounding speakers i've heard on the southern side of $350.

i'm not entirely sure... BUT i think Kronos put in a set... i think he had to do some minor modifications to the door, but a spacer might have prevented that problem.

yup, here's the thread on it... http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...ghlight=Eclipse

he sure did put in a set, and they would have probably fit wonderfully w/ a moderate spacer... (maybe .5" MDF) i doubt you'd even have to cut the doors, but the door to speaker surround fit might be close.
if you're going to have a shop do the install Pete, i would think they should be able to get the fit right w/o cutting and only using a spacer... you might even be able to pull it off if you just modify the basket and use it as a spacer.

hard to say for sure w/o it all in hand...

Then go buy a set, try it out and let me know!

Thanks for the link. I'll keep doing some research too. I was planning to install myself.
