I dont understand what you guys are meaning about it being worthless. Like I said in the post above, while at work one night, Lexus called my department and gave us the exact location and direction of travel for a LS430 that had been stolen about an hour earlier. We knew every turn the theif made, as he was making it. Obviously for this to happen, the data was not recovered after the fact, but rather while the thief was still enjoying his new car. We were able to recover the vehicle with
NO damage whatsoever and capture the thief as well. This is opposed to Lojak, where I have seen on numerous occasions, we drive around like jerks for over an hour trying to find the weak signal and end up finding a car that has been stripped and dumped. I don't know if any of the other manufacturers have anything like this, but the Lexus GPS system is top notch and works. This isn't something I read about or heard from a guy who knows a guy. I was there, the thing tracks your car, period.

On another not, now that I think of it. Last night as a matter of fact... On star called us and gave us the exact location of a black Chevy Impalla that was emiting a distress signal. Within 2 minutes I had the vehicle, only to find out that it was a false alarm, but the point is that the GPS tracking sytems work in real time. On Star also calls us and lets us know when and where there have been accidents.

All I am saying is if you get a Garmin Streetpilot, or one of the Magellan or Alpine in-car units, they will be useless to locate your car in the event of a theft unless the scum that stripped

But the Lexus GPS/Lexus Link system is not available in the IS300...so his dealer is incorrect. Like MacGuyver said you need a way for the system to communicate position. That system is not available through Lexus on the IS300.
