Not saying you're wrong, I just got opposite answers from 2 sources.

Hmmm....... Maybe he is confusing this with something else?
Yes, mgiang7 is right. I have yet to see a car component speaker that runs at 2 Ohms. Your "Stereo Guy" is full of $h!^ I would not have such a person work on my car stereo. There is a chance that he meant to say that about the sub and not the components in which case it's possible and maybe there's a misunderstanding here.

You can ask him again if you can run your comps at 2 ohms, if he says yes, RUN!

Yes, still planning on going with the Kicker RS6 components. Was quoted $200 which seems very competitive. They are 4 Ohm. So that means I need to see what the amp runs at 4 Ohm, which seems to be less than what it runs at 2 Ohms. I want them pretty closely matched, right?

only company i can think of for car stereo is Adire and maybe image dynamics.

pretty rare for sure. good way to run more power but then you run the amp hot, so compromises there.

Also, how important are rear speakers for good sound? Are most people just running components and a sub, or are you all filling in the rear as well?

he's right about the custom molded kickpods, but you're talking big bucks and considering the S isn't exactly the quietest of listening rooms...
