I was wondering if anybody has installed an amplifier with the stock radio. Does it happen to have RCA ouputs or did you have to hook it up using a high pass filter?
I want to install an amp withou losing my dash controls and without spending any money. I'm picking up my car in May! Thanks a bunch

It has no RCA's. You think with such a low end STOCK radio/speakers that they would give you RCA's? I sure don't. I don't know of any manufacturer that has RCA's on the stock head.

Yeah, if they did, that would make it too easy to upgrade the system. I know that there is an ever-escalating war between the aftermarket suppliers that want standardized connectors and interfaces and automobile manufacturers that insist upon proprietary ones . It makes Pinky's dash control solution for aftermarket headunits all the more elegant .

Only the 2001 models will be able to tell us that. Anybody pull the 2001 head unit out?

I just happen to have a MY2001 unit in my lap right now:

1) No RCA Jacks .
2) 1 20 pin connector used to install the factory harness
3) 1 14 pin connector (not used during factory install)- for Subwoofer??
4) 1 Antenna jack

I thought the 14 pin connector was for the 6 disc cd-changer.

The 14 pin is for the CD changer.

The sub will work with 2000 model year cars, not just 2001.

Audi is one manufacturer that offers RCA on the low-end stock head (not the upgraded name-brand head).

It sounds to me like the sub will run off the rear channels of the radio. May require splitting of the front channels for MY2000. I also noticed it's a 40w sub which is suspiciously close to the rating of bridged head unit channels. You think Honda might be selling us a passive sub for the already stressed out stereo? That would be weak! I wish they would hurry up and release it so I could figure out which route to take. I've had my car for just under two weeks with no BASS!!! I begining to suffer from BDS! (Bass Defeciency Syndrome) Somebody help!
