Ear pain - right ear
For a while now I've noticed that with loud volume acceptable with top down driving, my right ear starts to kind of hurt after a while. At first I was thinking this was due to the volume just being too high, so I turned it down and increased the overall output from my sub (a Darkside V1 in the passenger side with a 10" ED). I still am getting some discomfort from driving my S (like pressure from an airplane, I want to "pop" my ear), and I wonder if any audio folks may have an answer.
Has anyone hear of this before? I currently have Polk Momo MMC6500s (2004) that are very bright, and I'm not sure if that's the issue or if my sub is causing the issue. Any ideas? I'm going to disconnect the sub and see if that helps... (yes, I'm getting old, but I still want to rock, just not go deaf!)

Thanks, I'm not sure if its bright speakers because my left ear never hurts, just my right, and that's where the sub is. I'm not sure if I have my sub crossover too high or what.

I get it too .. was thinking it was the wind and pressure moving thru/by my ear as I drive ......
Similar thing happens to me. I think it has to do with high frequencies partly because my system doesn't make much bass as it is currently. I don't have a sub but I do have an amped set of components in the doors running 200WRMS/ channel

Turn the volume down and see if that helps.
People fall into the trap of "gee I can't hear the stereo with the top down, I better turn it up really loud!" Unfortunately you're just damaging your hearing, and that's not something you can undo.

its the bright speakers. i used to have some really bright kicker speakers in my corolla and my ears would hurt after listening for a while. i dont get the pain anymore in the s2k with stock speakers.

I'm sure I'll be deaf when I'm 60 but...
