DJ's mod is pretty cool with the 4-way button. The DCI is a lot cheaper and easier to install and gets you automatic volume adjustments based on speed, which nearly everybody loves. I say 'nearly everyone' only because 'everyone' hasn't got one yet.
If you're interested, PM me.
SoonS2k how do u like your deck? I was about to buy the 8062 when I found out the new 8053 was coming out. Eclipse reps say that the 8053 is better but half price of the 8062, so I would like to hear your opinion
i like it alot its one of the best sounding units ive heard. its got a really strong preamp, 16v pre outs!!! and a 24 bit d/a converter. I highly recomend this unit, but u must buy really good amps because the preamp is so strong.
Clarification - 16v is for Balanced pre-outs only. 8v otherwise.
Listened to this HU in store last Saturday for an hour wired to Focal Polykev's. Liked it so much I bought the HU. Holding the install until Modifry has a chance to upgrade the DCI to work with Eclipse. Sending him my remote next week.

The place I went to was an boutique car audio store that specialize in audio competition cars. They were the first place in Boston to get it. Their allocation from Eclipse was only 2 units. One of them they were installing in their sound room with the Focals. So they were not willing to budge much on the other one.
Retail is $550
, paid $500
. Their cost was $330
. (I was peeking at his inventory sheet while he was trying to find the item
)
Sometimes I should just leave my wallet at home
. I'm sure the price will come down a bit once the newness has worn off. I wanted to get Modifry the remote on this beauty right away so he could do his thing and adapt the DCI for Eclipse. I just could not wait.
When you are in love nothing is rationale anymore ...

That's what happened to me when I saw this car! Got it for a great deal..... NOT!!!
Oh well, just enjoy it and don't worry about what you paid for it!
SoonS2k,
Now that you have the CD 8053 installed can you check some functions out related to how the Mute / E-Com button works? Knowing will help Modifry on the DCI config. Need to know, if you press the Mute/E-Com button on the HU front panel vs. pressing the remote button is the result the same ...
The questions are ...
1.) does the volume get turned off completely or does it just reduce it to a low level?
2.) if the CD is playing and you press the E-Com on the HU vs. the remote does it pause the CD or does the volume get turned off but the CD continues to play through the song?
On Alpine, the mute front panel button and the remote mute button reduce the volume, but don't turn it off, and CD continues to play while muted. But the cell phone mute wire turns the volume completely off and pauses the CD playback.
The CD8053 has a pink wire for mobile cell phone ground so its likely this does the same. Modifry is trying to determine if the Eclipse if the same or different from the Alpine.
