Ej's! I need your help
Ok if some of you remember I had an occurance a long time ago about the same problem. Basically my music cuts out at high volume. I redid my connections to make sure they were clean and last time i did it, and it seemed to fix the problem, but now the problem is back. I dont know what to check. I have an Alpine 9857 with 4 component sets of Infinity Kappa Perfects hooked to an Alpine 4 channel amp. I have another amp a JL500/1 for the sub, its hooked up but not to the sub yet.
My music is fine if at a lower volume but when i get to a certain volume while driving it cuts out. I wantt o say it only happens when driving. I know the alpine said too much current last time this happened. When it cuts out, i just turn the system off, then cak on again and keep it at a lower volume and its fine. Im not that car audio capable so im wondering if i made a wrong connection, but i know i made sure that the positive went with the positive and the negative went with the negative. So i dont know if it could be the battery or something else. Help me out guys, any comments welcome and encourged.
Thanks.

It could be clipping or it could be a loose wire grounding out... but its hard to say without testing the circuits. I would start by just running the system with the car parked to see if it still happens...
Well it could be loose... but it could be that the wire is rubbing on the body of the car to the point that its shorting out. High volume also produces higher heat in the wire. The wire could be heating up and hitting the body somewhere.... but you can prove the wire problem true or false by running a few new wires from the amp right into the door.

your speakers could also be grounding out the signal. Make sure that the speaker wire that is connected to the back of your components is not hitting a screw or anything. I had a similar problem, but it basically just turned my HU off when it grounded out.

It could also possibly the thermal protection on the amp. Depends on the ambient temps and where's it located, but if the gains are set too high and it's clipping badly then the amp could be overheating.
When it cuts off stop the car and without turning it off, check the amp to see if it still has power or any protection lights lit up on it.
