electric radio antenna

Has anyone installed or thought about installing an electric telescoping radio antenna in the place of the ugly stock one?

No, because the electrical telescoping antennas are uglier, bend easier, and require some maintenance.

Actually, I've been looking into replacing my ugly stock antenna with a strip antenna I can hide along the outside of the windshield structural members. That way I can remove the antenna all together and fill in the hole for a smooth line across the back panel. I just can't decide which one I want, so I bet I'll end up just designing one myself.

Having looked carefully at that space where the antenna amplifier sits, I don't think there is enough room for an electric antenna to fit in there without cutting some brackets and support members away.
