Maybe it's just me, but none of the badges are animated anymore. They've all been frozen. What's up?

It seems to me that the badge police are in effect.

I thought we wer going to vote today as well. If we don't today, it'll give me time to make a smaller badge; the one I have up is 124 K, it needs to be 5, so you can say goodbye to most of the moving parts.

DK -
cthree made a comment in Site Info about possible badge changes w/ the new site implementation... i linked to the thread above.... the rest is just me grumbling... probably a lack of sleep talking...

and Willie, keep the super badge and make a quickie badge too... just in case the big one can pass muster. i'd bet however that a max badge size that might even hope to pass would be on the order of 25k. i didn't see any 'legal' badges bigger than that.... you might be able to downsize it some if you drop color levels down to 8 bit vs the larger color resolutions. (i don't know what you're currently running though, just a suggestion...)

What is needed to host the badge? I can host it most likely on my computer. I'll have to buy a firewall and a few programs to make the computer a lot safer but I wanted to do that anyway so it would just force me to finally do it.

I quoted this from Erik (Cthree)

Sure. The system we use for badging will be much improved. Key features:

- Easier for COs to manage
- Easier to set up new clubs
- Club home pages
- Club reorganization, support for social clubs as well at regional ones
- More thoughtful badge display
- Profile option to turn badges off
- Badges shown once per page like sigs

The whole badge thing was a quick and dirty hack and has been used that way ever since it was first started. v4 gives us the chance to do a proper job of it.
